Sonoran hot dogs originated in Northern Mexico and have made their way around the globe as one of the more popular ways to enjoy a hot dog. Topped with homemade pico de gallo, beans, and avocado, these bacon-wrapped dogs are enjoyed at baseball games, barbecues, pool days, and more! Try them on your Pit Boss wood pellet grill for extra wood-fired flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 Roma tomatoes, diced small
  • 1/4 red onion, minced
  • 1/2 medium jalapeno, diced
  • 1/2 bunch Cilantro, Chopped
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 can refried beans

Special Tools

  • 4 toothpicks, cut in half

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine chopped tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lime juice, and salt until well mixed. Set aside in the refrigerator.
  1. Heat your refried beans on the stove in a small pan and leave warm while grilling.
  1. Preheat your grill to 350°F.
  1. Wrap each hot dog with a piece of bacon, and secure on both ends with half a toothpick.
  1. Grill your hot dogs until the bacon is crispy.
  1. Remove the toothpicks from each hot dog. Assemble them like so: Spread some refried beans in the bottom of the buns, add the hot dogs, sliced avocado, and a scoop of pico de gallo on each. Drizzle with chipotle mayo, if you have it.
