Gone are the days of boring, regular hamburgers! By adding sliced mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese to your beef patties, you've leveled up your griddle game with these easy (and cheesey) Mushroom Swiss Smash Burgers, cooked on a Pit Boss flat top griddle. Impress your friends and family at your next outdoor cookout, or serve up this simple meal on a weeknight and you have yourself a winning dinner, every time.

Ingredients

  • 24 oz. 80/20 ground beef
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 lb. sliced mushrooms
  • 1 small yellow onion, sliced
  • Butter

Directions

  1. Divide your ground beef into 6 4oz. portions. Shape them into even sized balls.
  1. Preheat your gas griddle to medium-high heat.
  1. Add butter to your griddle and sauté your mushrooms for 3-4 minutes. Add your sliced onions and sauté for another 3-4 minutes or until the mushrooms and onions are soft.
  1. Remove the mushrooms and onions from the griddle and set aside.
  1. Evenly space your ground beef portions onto the griddle.
  1. Using a burger press, smash each beef portion until they are 1/4 inch thick and season with simple spices. We used Pit Boss GSP Rub.
  1. After 3-4 minutes, flip each patty and top with 2 slices of cheese each.
  1. Divide your mushroom and onion mixture evenly between each patty and then remove from the griddle.
  1. Wipe your griddle surface, add some butter and toast the hamburger buns on the griddle top.
  1. Assemble your burgers and serve hot!
