Grilling a 40 oz. steak on your Pit Boss is the perfect way to break in a new grill, or to impress your friends and family with your BBQ skills. Follow these simple steps to grill your very own porterhouse steak right from your backyard in this easy-to-follow recipe. Seasoned lightly with oil, salt, and pepper, the real magic comes from the 100% all-natural hardwood pellets and the wood-fired flavor of the open sear plate on your grill.

Ingredients

  • 1 40 oz. porterhouse steak
  • Oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Special Tools

  • Temperature Probe

Directions

  1. Preheat pellet grill to high heat
  1. Rub steak with oil and season with salt and pepper.
  1. Open the sear plate on your Pit Boss grill and sear the outside of the steak over an open flame until desired color is reached.
  1. Close the sear plate and set grill to 350°F.
  1. Place a temperature probe into the thickest part of the steak, one inch away from the bone to get an accurate temperature reading.
  1. Place steak on center rack and close the grill lid.
  1. Allow the steak to reach 120°F internally. We cooked our steak to medium-rare.
  1. Remove from the grill and allow to rest 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
