This campfire cherry crunch recipe is so simple, yet so delicious. With only 6 simple ingredients, you're gonna wish you had thought of this outdoor dessert sooner.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of your favorite cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick (or 1/2 cup) butter
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Heath Riles Pecan Rub

Directions

  1. Take a Dutch oven and add 2 cans of your favorite cherry pie filling and stir in 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  1. Once that is nice and incorporated take the package of yellow cake mix and stir in 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts, 1 teaspoon of Heath Riles Pecan Rub and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  1. Spread the cake mix mixture evenly across the top of the cherry pie filling (Do not stir in to the filling).
  1. Cut the stick of butter in to 1 tablespoon slices and spread evenly across the top of the yellow cake mix.
  1. Place the lid on the Dutch oven and place on direct heat from the camp fire. Place hot coals on the lid of the Dutch oven to assist in cooking the cake mix. Cook for approximately 30 minutes or until the cake mix is cooked.

Recipe Note

Substitute cherry filling for any fruit pie filling like peach, blueberry, or apple!
