Ingredients


9 – 12 cups Baking Soda

2 oz. Butter, Unsalted Melted

4 ½ cups Flour, All-Purpose

1 – 2 tsp Smoked Hickory Sea Salt

1 tbsp Sugar

1 and 1/2 cups Warm Water

½ cup Baking soda bath Water

(2 and 1/4 teaspoons) or 1 packet active dry Yeast, Instant



Cooking Instructions


Soft, tender and coated in crunchy Smoked Sea Salt, these homemade soft pretzels are baked right on your Pit Boss Grill. Whip these up to impress friends for game-day or just enjoy as an anytime treat. Serve warm with a side of your favorite mustard or beer cheese and a cold one.

How to Make Homemade Pretzel Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl for a stand mixer, add sugar and active dry yeast followed by warm water, whisking gently to combine. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Make sure you have the dough hook attached to the stand mixer. Once the yeast has become bubbly, add in the butter and then slowly add the flour.
  3. Mix for a few minutes until the dough starts to pull away from the bowl. Remove the dough from the bowl, spray with cooking spray and return the dough to the bowl. Put a clean towel over the top of the bowl and let the dough rise for 1 – 2 hours.

Note: It is recommended to use Hickory Hardwood Pellets with this recipe.

This recipe uses Smoked Hickory Sea Salt seasoning.

  1. Roll each section of dough into a 22” long rope. Take the ends and draw them together so the dough forms a circle. Twist the ends, then bring them towards yourself and press them down into a pretzel shape.
  2. Fire up your Pit Boss Grill and set the temperature to 350°F. If you’re using a gas or charcoal grill, set it up for medium high heat. Preheat with lid closed for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a large pot, combine baking soda and water and bring to a rolling boil. Gently drop 1-2 pretzels into the boiling water for 20-30 seconds. Using a slotted spatula, lift the pretzel out of the water and place on baking sheet.
  4. Brush each pretzel using a silicone brush with egg yolk and sprinkle Smoked Hickory Sea Salt onto the pretzels.
  5. Place baking sheet in your Pit Boss and bake until pretzels are golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
