If you need a creative way to utilize your leftover spare ribs, this recipe is for you! These perfectly crispy tempura ribs are unlike anything you've ever tried with a Korean BBQ kick!

🔥 Cooking Method: This recipe calls for a deep fryer, so make sure you've got yours (or the one you're borrowing from a friend) handy and filled with plenty of fresh oil!

Before You Start: You'll need around 2 racks of leftover ribs for this recipe. Lucky for you, we've got plenty of recipes to go around. Check out our Smoked Pork Ribs recipe that works great for achieving the perfect Tempura leftovers and is easily customizable to feature your preferred flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks left over pork ribs
  • 3 cups tempura flour
  • 2 cups ice water
  • Korean BBQ sauce
  • Thinly sliced green onion — for garnish
  • Toasted sesame seed garnish
  • Red chili flakes garnish

Tools

  • Deep Fryer

Directions

  • Preheat deep fryer to 350°F.
  • Combine tempura flour and iced water in bowl and combine using a spoon. Set aside.
  • Cut chilled leftover ribs into single or double bone sections.
  • Dredge each rib in tempura batter and shake off excess batter before carefully placing into hot fryer. Note: Tempura batter is thick and should coat the food thinly before frying. If too much batter is present, it will yield a thick, soft breading and will not be crispy. Do not overload the fryer, fry 2-4 ribs at a time depending on the size fryer you have.
  • After 4-5 minutes, remove from fryer.
  • Top with Korean BBQ sauce, then garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and chili flakes.
  • Serve immediately!
