Southern Green Beans

  • 6 Servings
  • 15 minutes Prep Time
  • 60 minutes Cook Time

These Southern Green Beans are the perfect side dish to round out any meal, whether it's a backyard barbecue or a holiday. All you need is fresh green beans, chicken broth, butter, seasoning, and – of course – some crispy bacon. Throw it on the grill for an hour or so until the beans are tender and have that touch of wood-fired flavor!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Green Beans, ends snapped off
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • To Taste, Smoked Salt & Pepper Rub
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 tbsp Butter, unsalted
  • 2 cups water

Directions

  • Fire up your Pit Boss grill and set the temperature to 350°F. If you're using a gas or charcoal grill, set it up for medium heat.
  • Place a cast iron pan on the grill to preheat. Once the pan finishes preheating, place the 4 slices of bacon in the pan and cook for 15 minutes until the bacon has rendered and is crispy.
  • Remove the bacon from the pan and reserve for later. Leave the pan and drippings on the grill, and add the green beans, chicken broth, water, and Pit Boss Smoked Salt & Pepper Rub to taste. Close the lid on the grill and cook for an hour, or until the beans are tender.
  • Chop the bacon on a cutting board and mix into the beans with the butter.
  • Allow the beans to cook for another minute, then remove from the heat and serve.
