Directions
- Preheat your pellet grill or smoker to 225°F.
- Remove the ribs from any packaging, pat dry, and remove the membrane and any extra fat from back side. Pro Tip: Use a Pit Boss Rib Prep Tool to remove the membrane easily.
- Season the ribs with your choice of BBQ rub and allow to sit for 10 minutes. We chose Pit Boss Sweet Heat rub for this recipe.
- Place ribs on the center rack of your smoker.
- Smoke for 2 1/2 hours, spritzing every 25-30 minutes with your favorite spritz liquid. We used a 3:1 ratio of apple juice and cider vinegar.
- Remove the ribs from your grill and rub all sides with softened butter. Wrap the ribs with butcher paper, foil, or place in a pan covered with film and foil.
- Place the ribs back on your grill and allow to braise. Check after an hour. If you want your ribs to be more well-done or fall off the bone, allow to braise for an additional 45 minutes to an hour.
- Remove your ribs from grill once they're cooked just how you like. Coat with your favorite BBQ sauce and place back on the grill for 15-20 minutes.
- Allow the ribs to rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.
