Kid-Friendly Easter Crafts on The Grill

Easter time is full of amazing food and games for the whole family. There’s plenty of grilling action for the adults, so we enlisted the help of some of our little Pit Bosses to design two easy and fun kid friendly Easters crafts. They’re perfect to make right on the grill while you and your family enjoy the beautiful spring weather outside.

Pit Boss Perler Bead Art

If you’ve never played with perler beads, they are tiny plastic beads that can fuse together when under heat. Most folks will make perler bead art using a peg board and an iron. This is how you can do it with your grill.

Supplies Needed:

  • Perler Beads
  • Parchment Paper
  • Baking Sheet

Step 1:

Grab your baking sheet and line it with parchment paper. You can freehand your design or use one of the perler bead patterns below. To use a pattern, you can place the pattern under the parchment paper and carefully remove the paper before sticking it on the grill.

Step 2:

Once your design is ready, fire up your Pit Boss, then set the temperature to a low 250°F. The beads should be nice and melted after 7-10 minutes. Just keep a close eye on them to make sure they don’t burn.

Step 3:

When the beads are melted remove from the grill and let cool.

Easter Salt Dough Ornaments

Salt dough ornaments are great for any holiday. They are just like making cookies, except not as tasty to eat.Salt dough ornaments are awesome for hanging and decorating around the home. Plus, the kiddos can enjoy getting to paint and decorate their own.

Supplies Needed:

  • Easter Cookie Cutters
  • Drinking Straw
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Twine
  • Paint, Paint Brushes, and Glitter (optional)

Step 1:

Add the 1 cup of flour and the 1/2 cup of salt, to a mixing bowl. Stir the mixture and then add in 1/2 cup of water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until it forms a dough. Then, sprinkle a surface with a little bit of flour and take your dough out of the bowl to knead it to a soft ball.

Step 2:

Roll the dough out using your rolling pin, and cut out the ornaments using your Easter cookie cutters. Place your salt dough ornaments on a cookie sheet and poke a hole in the top using the drinking straw. From there, fire up your grill and set the temperature to 250°F.

Step 3:

Bake the ornaments for two to three hours or until they are dried out, turning half way through. Once, they are baked and cooled, they are ready to decorate! Get creative and have fun.
