4 Provolone Cheese, Sliced

The Philly Cheesesteak and the cheeseburger are both iconic American sandwiches. Both originated from the East Coast where working-class men and women needed a beefyand filling meal in between their long, manual labor-filled days. So, we came up with this recipe to pay tribute to those who spend their long days toiling on their feet. Ladies and gentlemen, this Philly Cheesesteak Burger Recipe is for you!

This recipe mixes all those classic cheesesteak ingredients, from the green bell peppers to provolone cheese (or use ‘Wiz if you prefer). We recommend using a cast iron skillet to sauté the ingredients. Just throw the skillet on the grill once the burgers are done and your pan will heat up in no time!

Note: It is recommended to use Mesquite hardwood pellets with this recipe.

This recipe uses Pit Boss Chop House Steak seasoning.

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef and Pit Boss Chop House Steal seasoning together until well combined. Form into patties. Preheat your Pit Boss grill to 350°F and grill for 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through. Once you flip the burgers, top with a slice of provolone cheese.
  2. Once the burgers have cooked to your desired degree of doneness, remove from the grill and set aside. 
  3. For the pepper and onion: in a sauté pan over medium heat, heat the olive oil until it shimmers, then add the onion and pepper. Cook until the pepper and onion are soft and start to caramelize and develop a little char, about 15 minutes.
