For advanced smokers, it’s just an easy, quick meal that is packed with smoky and dark chicken meat flavors. And with a delicious, barbecue honey mustard marinade, this is one backyard classic that is hard to beat.

Chicken Drumsticks Marinade

  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with a paper towel and place them in a large bowl.
  2. Over the top of the chicken, add honey, ketchup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, mustard, and Pit Boss Sweet Heat Rub. Toss well to coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the drumsticks to marinate for 12 hours to 18 hours.

Best Wood Pellets for Chicken Drumsticks

For heavy smoke flavor, Mesquite hardwood lends notes of spiciness to Chicken. For lighter smoke flavor, it’s hard to beat Apple Hardwood.

Note: This recipe uses Pit Boss Sweet Heat Rub seasoning.

  1. Start your grill on smoke. Once it’s fired up, set the temperature to 225°F. Remove the wings from the marinade and place the drumsticks into the Pit Boss Buffalo Wing Rack.
  2. Smoke for 60 minutes, or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the drumstick registers at 170°F.
  3. Turn the heat up to 350°F and cook for 5 to 10 minutes to make the skin crisp.
  4. Remove from the smoker, serve immediately and enjoy!
