Cooking Instructions

Add a little kick to your next dinner with these Orange Chipotle Ribs! The sticky sweet and spicy chipotle BBQ sauce is sure to be a hit with Baby Back Rib fans. Make sure to serve with extra sauce and a stack of napkins. You’ll need ‘em!

The smoky flavors from chipotle peppers team up nicely with the low and slow barbecue flavors produced from your pellet grill. Then the sweat heat from the rub as well as the fresh flavors from the cilantro make this a rib recipe to remember.

Note: It is recommended to use Classic Hardwood Pelletswith this recipe.

  1. First, make the barbecue sauce. Into the bowl of a blender, add ¾ cup of orange juice, cilantro, honey, ketchup, lime juice, 2 chipotles in adobo, adobo sauce, and 1 tablespoon of the Sweet Heat Rub. Place the lid on the blender and blend until completely smooth. Pour into a bowl, reserve ½ cup and set aside.
  2. Prepare the ribs. Using the paper towels, pull the membrane off of the back of the ribs and discard. In the bowl of a blender, add the orange juice, brown sugar, chipotle peppers, chili powder, ground cumin, and Sweet Heat. Place the lid on the blender and blend until smooth. Pour this mixture over the ribs and massage into the meat. Place the ribs in the refrigerator and marinade for 8 hours.
  3. Fire up your Pit Boss Grill and set the temperature to 275°F. Place the ribs, meat side up, and grill for 1 ½ hours. Baste the ribs with the reserved barbecue sauce, then BBQ for another 1 ½ hours, or until the ribs are extremely tender. Remove the ribs from the grill and serve with barbecue sauce.
