1/8 tsp Cloves, Ground

2 Cups and 2 tbsp Flour, Gluten Free

Vanilla Bean (Makes the kids happy) Ice Cream, Prepared

2-3 tsp Lemon, Juice

1/2 tsp Nutmeg, Ground

1 tsp Pit Boss Grills Tennessee Apple Butter Seasoning

Dash Salt

1/2 Cup (We used Coconut) Shortening

1/4 Cup Water, Cold

Cooking Instructions

  • Skillet
  • Large mixing spoon
  • Measuring cups
  • 2 Mixing bowl

  1. Turn your grill to smoke, once the fire pot catches - preheat your grill to 350 F.

  2. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour and a dash of salt. Add shortening and cut into flour w/hand mixer or pastry blender. Blend until course and crumbly.

  3. Add COLD water in a tablespoon at a time. Mix after each addition.

  4. Once dough has formed into a ball, wrap it in plastic and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

  5. While the dough is refrigerating slice your apples and add them to a large mixing bowl.

  6. Cut the lemon, and juice it into the apples (to keep them from turning brown).

  7. Grease the skillet with shortening.

  8. Roll out dough into skillet.

  9. In a mixing bowl add the Swerve, 2 tablespoons of flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and Pit Boss Grills Tennessee Apple Butter Seasoning.

  10. Add this flour mix to the apples.

  11. In a medium bowl, add the remaining 1/2 cup blower and the brown sugar. Add butter and mix with hand mixer. This will become course and crumbly – that’s good!

  12. Add the apple mixture on top of the crust in the skillet.

  13. Add the brown sugar mixture on top of the apples. Sprinkle evenly.

  14. Bake on indirect heat until the apples are tender and bubbly. About 50-60 minutes. Rotate 1/2 way through.

  15. Remove and place on cooling rack for 10-15 minutes.

  16. Serve and enjoy with your favorite ice cream (vanilla bean for us)!
