Cooking Instructions

Kick off any party with these Maple Bourbon Glazed Meatballs and you’ll be everyone’s number one fan. Tender and moist meatballs are infused with woodfire flavor on the grill, then drowned in a sweet bourbon glaze that gets an extra kick from Thai chilis. As the meatballs cook up in a cast iron skillet on the grill, the sauce caramelizes until sticky sweet and fingerlickin’ good.

How to the Make Maple Bourbon Glaze

Maple Bourbon Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • ½ cup Orange Marmalade
  • ¼ cup Maple Syrup
  • ¼ cup Bourbon
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Thai Chili Sauce
  • 1 tsp Yellow Mustard

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the ketchup, marmalade, maple syrup, bourbon, soy sauce, Thai chili sauce, and yellow mustard. Set aside. The sauce will form into a glaze as it cooks with the meatballs.

Best Wood Pellets for Meatballs

As the meatballs contain a mix of ground pork and beef, the Hickory, Maple, and Apple Hardwoods in the Competition Blend will pair nicely with those meat flavors as well as the glaze.

Note: This recipe uses Pit Boss Sweet Heat Rub seasoning.

  1. Fire up your Pit Boss grill and preheat to 350°F. If using a gas or charcoal grill, set it up for medium heat.
  2. Put the stuffing in a food processor and pulse to process into small crumbs. Pour the crumbs out into a mixing bowl, then add the onion, garlic, eggs, milk, and Sweet Heat. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes, then add the ground meat. Using your hands, combine the mixture together until fully incorporated.
  3. Form mixture into 2 ounce balls and place on cast iron skillet, evenly spaced apart.
  4. Transfer skillet to preheated grill and cook for 15 minutes, then generously glaze with sauce. Cook an additional 5 minutes, then glaze again and cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. Remove meatballs from grill and serve hot with remaining sauce (about ⅓ cup).
