Cooking Instructions

Your backyard BBQ is now complete. Serve up this Smoked Lemon Sweet Tea and impress friends and family with this smokin’ version of their favorite summer drink. Caramelized grilled lemons are mixed with a smoked simple syrup and sweet black tea to balance everything out.

Note: It is recommended to use Apple Hardwood Pellets with this recipe.

  1. Place the tea bags in a heat-safe pitcher. Bring 4 Cups of water to a boil and pour over tea bags. Let steep for 5-10 minutes. Remove tea bags and set pitcher aside to cool.
  2. Turn on your Pit Boss and set to smoke mode. Combine 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups water in a small aluminum pan. Smoke for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the mixture reduces to a thick, simple syrup. Remove from the grill and let it cool.
  3. Fire up your Pit Boss to 450°F and open the flame broiler. If using a charcoal or gas grill, set heat to high.
  4. Cut the lemons in half and sear over the flame broiler until charred, about 7 minutes. Remove from grill and set aside to cool.
  5. Juice the lemons into a medium bowl. Pour lemon juice through a metal strainer into the tea pitcher to remove seeds and pulp.
  6. Pour the cooled simple syrup into pitcher and stir until fully incorporated with tea and lemons. Add 2 cups of ice and refrigerate until serving.
