1/3 cup Banana Nectar

4 Bananas, quartered

3/4 cup Brown Sugar

1/4 cup Butter

1/2 tsp Cinnamon, Ground

1/3 cup Dark Rum

Vanilla Ice Cream

Cooking Instructions

Make this classic New Orleans dessert right on your Pit Boss grill. This simple yet decadent banana dessert starts with ripe bananas caramelized in a rum infused butter, brown sugar and cinnamon sauce, then flambéed and spooned over vanilla ice cream. The flambé burns off a bit of the alcohol while adding over-the-top drama that will be an unforgettable end to your meal.

  1. Fire up your Pit Boss Griddle and preheat to medium heat. If using a gas or charcoal grill, preheat a cast iron skillet.
  2. Place a large skillet on the griddle, then melt butter in the skillet. Whisk in brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the banana nectar and bananas. Stir to coat
  4. Once the bananas begin to soften and turn brown, add the rum.  Stir, then ignite the sauce with a stick lighter.  After the flames subside, simmer the sauce for 2 minutes.
  5. Divide the bananas among 4 scoops/bowls of vanilla ice cream, then spoon the warm sauce over the top of the ice cream. Serve immediately.

Don’t want to use rum for this recipe? Vanilla extract can be substituted in its place for a more “family friendly” recipe.
