For several years I had used a propane smoker with good results. The one I had, rusted out and I could not get the parts I needed to repair it. So, my wife purchased the Pit Boss 3 series digital one for my birthday. Assembly was easy and after following the instructions to break it in properly, I used it to smoke a pork tenderloin and 2 racks of pork ribs. I was curious to see how it would perform. To my surprise, on the first run of the Pit Boss, the ribs and tenderloin were much better than I had been able to smoke with my old propane smoker. My family agrees!

I bought this unit to replace a 10 year old Bradley. I didn’t know too much about Pit Boss, but the features of this electric smoker really impressed me. Now that I have I am surprised at just how well this smoker has been thought out. The chip tray front loads, emptying old ashes can be done without opening the door. The high powered element controls the heat very well. The rack heights are fully adjustable. With the chip and grease trays, the element, the water bowl, and controls all housed in the integrated metal stand, that leaves all of the smoke box for food. This is a very well thought out design.
I have done 2 smokes in it so far, and everything has went exactly as it was supposed to. It might be nice if the digital controls were brighter for sunny days, but not a huge issue. Most digital displays can be hard to read outside.
I’m very satisfied.
